Welcome to the SecOps Community!

The mission of this SecOps Community is to provide a community forum and Slack® channels for peer-to-peer interactions so that you can find answers & learn, build connections, and stay informed about new developments. We encourage you to share thought leadership and best practices. 

In addition to these SecOps Community Guidelines and SecOps Community Terms of Service, the Google Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy also apply to your use of this forum and Slack channels, so please read them all carefully. If you do not agree to them (together, the “Terms”), please do not use the Community.  

SecOps Community Guidelines

1. Be respectful
  • Do not engage in harassing, bullying, or threatening behavior, and do not incite others to engage in these activities. Treat others with respect.

  • Acting in an abusive way may result in an immediate ban, with or without warning.

  • Our members have varying levels of technical knowledge and they may not be writing in their first language. If you need more clarification, just ask. 

2. If you see a problem, flag it
  • When you see bad behavior, don’t reply. Just flag it and a moderator will review and may take action.

  • In order to maintain our community, moderators reserve the right to remove any content and any user account for any reason at any time. 

  • SecOps Community moderators do not preview new posts; the moderators and site operators take no responsibility for any content posted by the community. 

  • Make sure that your links are relevant to the discussion.

  • Submit a text post linking out to your resource along with an explanation as to how the content relates to Chronicle SOAR or Google SecOps.

  • Standalone links with little to no explanation on the relevance may be removed.

4. No Misleading or Clickbait Titles, or IP Misuse
  • Do not use titles that are meant to mislead users into thinking something is true or not. Additionally, titles used to bait users to click it is a low-effort way to get someone to view the post.

  • Titles that are used to mislead or cause clicks will be removed at moderator discretion.

  • The title of your post must communicate accurate information and represent the content of your post.

  • Posts must adhere to intellectual property law, including copyright law. You must not post, upload, download or otherwise exchange copyright protected material through the SecOps Community Forum or Slack channels. Material properly extracted from copyright protected sources must be referenced. You may be held liable for breaches in copyright, or other law broken as a result of your posts.

5. Sharing Quality Content
  • Topics and posts must be clear, concise, and related to cybersecurity issues or Chronicle SOAR. We do not condone low-quality or low-effort content.

  • Don’t create opinion-based posts. Try to keep your content objective and solution-focussed.

  • Refrain from posting questions that promote simple responses, such as "yes" or "no" answers.

6. No spam or soliciting
  • Do not create spam posts, including content, surveys or URLs that are promotional or commercial in nature, repetitive, unrelated, or excessive. 

  • Any such posts may be removed without warning.

7. Keep it safe-for-work 
  • You may only participate within the SecOps Community if you are an individual over the age of 18. By using, accessing or registering with the Platform, you are indicating that you are at least 18 years of age. We may terminate your account if we find that you are younger than the minimum age specified above. We also may at any time request additional information to confirm your age.

  • We don't allow sexually explicit material, or content that directs traffic to sites that contain them. 

  • Don’t post links to content with graphic violence or other shock-value material.

  • Posts that violate the above rules may be removed immediately without explanation and the posting member removed from the community without explanation.

  • We are a safe-for-work, and posts of the nature listed above will never be allowed.

8. This is your community
  • This forum and Slack channels are moderated by Google, but are built for you to learn and share. 

  • You acknowledge that opinions expressed in Content on the SecOps Community are those of contributors of such Content only and do not reflect the opinions or policies of Google, or its affiliates or group companies.

  • If you have feedback on the Community itself, you can submit that as a new idea on the ideas section or you can send us an email to secopscommunitysupport@google.com.

  • If there is a critical issue or an issue that cannot be resolved by the Community Feedback discussion group, then please contact us via gc-community-team@google.com. 

Privacy in the SecOps Community

  • We offer the SecOps Community Forum and Slack channels to you as a way to communicate with others and Google with you. Your personal data and content you create on this forum, the Slack channels, and this website is processed according to the Google Privacy Policy.  

  • Data from the SecOps Community Forum and Slack channels is used to maintain and improve the SecOps Community and other SecOps products offered by Google, and can be used to develop new services or provide personalized content.

  • Your activity in the SecOps Community may be measured to analyze and optimize the SecOps Community site performance.

  • To delete your account, please send an email to secopscommunitysupport@google.com and specify that you wish to delete your account. Upon request, our team will remove your username and data from the SecOps Community website.

SecOps Community Terms of Service

  1. Governing Agreements: By using this website, SecOps Community Forum, and/or Slack channel, you agree to these Terms as defined above (for clarity: the SecOps Community Guidelines, the SecOps Community Terms of Servicethe Google Terms of Service, and the Google Privacy Policy.

  2. (together, the "Terms")). These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Google.

    1. Throughout the Terms, “Google" has the meaning given at https://cloud.google.com/terms/google-entity for SecOps services.

    2. Where applicable, the term “we” is inclusive of: Google, the Forum and channel moderators, and the site operators.

  3. Complying with Applicable Laws

    1. We reserve the right to ensure that the SecOps Community complies with all applicable laws, including export control, sanctions, and human trafficking laws. To this end, among its other criteria, we retain the right to exclude from potential membership persons located in Crimea, Cuba, the so-called Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic, Iran, North Korea, and Syria. 

    2. We also reserve the right to exclude from potential membership anyone whose admittance to the SecOps Community might compromise our reputation or community commitments, or our ability to comply with any applicable laws, including export control, sanctions, and human trafficking laws.  

  4. Membership in the SecOps Community

    1. The SecOps Community is a limited community for those persons active in the cyber security industry, trade, business, craft, and/or profession. Please do not participate in this Community if this description does not apply to you.

    2. We retain the right to vet and select its membership according to its own internal criteria, which NEVER include considerations of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information. 

    3. You may only participate within the SecOps Community if you are an individual over the age of 18. By using, accessing or registering with the Platform, you are indicating that you are at least 18 years of age. We may terminate your account if we find that you are younger than the minimum age specified above. We also may at any time request additional information to confirm your age.

    4. Members are expected to read and follow the SecOps Community Guidelines. We reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to remove any posts or any users from the Community for failure to follow the Community Guidelines.

  5. Licensing and Intellectual Property

    1. We reserve the right to use content posted by you in the SecOps Community. 

    2. You agree to adhere to US and international intellectual property law, including copyright law. You agree not to post, upload, download or otherwise exchange copyright protected material through the SecOps Community Forum or Slack channels. You agree to indemnify Google for claims arising from breaches in IP Laws, or other laws, caused or contained within your posted material.

    3. This Site, the SecOps Community Forum, and Slack channels, and all the information it contains, trademarks, trade names, service marks and logos (collectively, the “Content”), are the property of Google, and is protected from unauthorized copying and dissemination by U.S. Copyright law, trademark law, international conventions, and other intellectual property laws.  Nothing contained on this Site or Community should be construed as granting you any license or right to use any Content displayed herein.

  6. Limitation of Liability

    1. We are not responsible for the content, opinions, and information posted on this site by others. 

    2. We disclaim all warranties regarding information posted on this site, whether posted by Google, or any third party; this disclaimer includes all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness. 

    3. In no event shall we be liable for any special, indirect, or consequential damages or any damages whatsoever resulting from loss of use, data, or profits, arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of any information or content posted on this site. 

    4. All content presented through the SecOps Forum and Slack channels is provided for informational purposes only. We encourage you to treat such content with caution and discretion.

    5. We take no responsibility for any content posted by members of the SecOps Community or any potential effects it may have on other SecOps Community Members. 

    6. You, as a SecOps Community member, acknowledge that SecOps Community moderators do not preview or otherwise approve new posts before they are posted.

    7. Upon accepting these terms, you and all SecOps Community members, acknowledge that there may be delays between reports of inappropriate material and removal of that material, during which inappropriate material remains posted, and you and all other SecOp Community members expressly accept that risk.

  7. Removal

    1. In order to maintain our community, we reserve the right to remove any posts and/or content from the site(s) and remove any user account from the Community for any reason at any time.

    2. We expressly reserve the right to remove any posts and/or content that we believe might result in reputational damages.

    3. Your posts and/or content may be removed by Google or Site Moderators, if, in our sole discretion,  the content violates the SecOps Community Guidelines.

    4. Content can be removed if it violates intellectual property laws or other regulations.

  8. Support

    1. Please email secopscommunitysupport@google.com, if you experience any issues or disagree with a moderation decision.

  9. Incorporation and Severability

    1. These the SecOps Community Terms of Service expressly incorporate by reference the SecOps Community Guidelines, the Google Terms of Service, and the Google Privacy Policy.

    2. If any of the provisions or whole of the Terms are held or made invalid by a court decision, statute or rule, or shall be otherwise rendered invalid, the remainder of the provisions or whole of these Terms shall not be affected thereby.

Chronicle SOAR Community Edition

  • Community SOAR Platform is a free-of-charge version of our Chronicle SOAR software. 

  • Limited License.  Registering to the platform and using the trial version of the software is free of charge. Members of the SecOps Community are granted a limited license to use the Community SOAR Platform, governed by the SecOps Services Agreement.

  • Personal data. All personal information shared within the Chronicle Community SOAR platform will be handled in accordance with the SecOps Privacy Notice, and SecOps Services Data Processing and Security Terms incorporated into the SecOps Services Agreement

    • Reminder: As stated elsewhere, all personal information shared within the SecOps Community Forum or Slack channels are governed by the Google Privacy Policy.  

  • Registration and User Account. Registration and access to the Community SOAR Platform is subject to our review and approval. 

    • Google retains the right to vet and select access to the Community SOAR Platform according to its own internal criteria, which NEVER include considerations of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability or genetic information.  

    • Google reserves the right to remove, revoke, or deny access to the Community SOAR Platform in connection with any potential reputational harm.

    • Google reserves the right to ensure that the Community SOAR Platform complies with all applicable laws, including export control, sanctions, and human trafficking laws. Joining the SecOps Community

To apply to join the community, please fill out this form and read and agree to all relevant terms and conditions. If you are selected to join the SecOps Community, you will be notified with an email. An additional email will be sent asking you to set your password for the SecOps Community Platform.
